The Sailing Club of Patras organizes an International Sailing race for offshore boats in the Gulf of Patras, open to foreign participants that will be based in Patras port from May 31rst to June 4th. This race will be the 2014 Offshore National Championship for the ORC international and IRC boats. For ORC Club boats, it will be the 2014 National Cup.
The registration procedures start on Friday May 30th until Saturday May 31rst, and the first race will be held on Sunday, June 1st. The races are scheduled to be held on Sunday June 1rst, on Monday June 2nd, on Tuesday June 3rd and Wednesday June 4th. The award and closing ceremony will be on the same day. The courses include, one (1) long offshore race and upwind-downwind, coastal or circuit races. For vessels ORC club instead of one day of upwind-downwind races, the course will be either an inshore route or short offshore race.
Moreover, the Sailing Club of Patras aspires to accommodate vessels from other clubs of Greece or abroad from May 1rst to participate in competitions and joint trainings before the championship. For that the Sailing Club of Patras has scheduled two races in Patras on May 3rd-4th and May 10th-11th embedded in the race schedule of the Hellenic Sailing Federation and trainings throughout the period before the championship.
Also the Sailing Club of Patras aims to provide vessels for charter to be used by crews from distant clubs of Greece and abroad in an effort to attract as many sailors and upgrade the event.
