HOW TO REACH PATRAS

All ways by which you can access the capital of Western Greece

Patras is a European destination with international interconnectios. Patras port is considered as the Greek gate to Europe as it is connected with Italian ports. Also Araxos Airport connects Patras with many European destinations during summer period.

National Road Network. How to reach Patras by car.

Patras is connected to Athens by the National Road “Patron – Athinon”. The new highway “Olympia Odos” is under construction and this results to low driving speeds in the current National Road between Patras and Korinthos. During the trip you will meet two toll stations.

How to reach Patras by bus.

The central bus station (KTEL Achaias) is located in the city centre. KTEL Achaias connects Patras with many Greek cities like Athens, Thessaloniki (Salonica), Ioannina, Lamia, Larisa, Volos, Kalamata, Argos, Pyrgos and Chalkida.

There are many bus routes from Patras to Athens and vice versa per day.

How to reach Patras by train

The Greek rail company (OSE) does not offer a direct train service due to the rail line reconstruction. However there are frequent routes between Patras and Athens, Piraeus port and Athens International Airport which combine train and bus.

 

How to reach Patras by ship.

The new Patras Port is located in the South part of the city and serves international routes. The Kefalonia island route is being operated in the old port. The new Patras Port is one of the most modern and newbuild ports of Greece and is connected to the city centre by bus routes.
